| JUNE 5, 2014: DACA RENEWAL IS READY.RENEWAL FOR DEFERRED ACTION FOR CHILDHOOD ARRIVALS (DACA)The new DACA renewal forms are now ready. If you have previously received DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) in the past, pay close attention to the expiration date on your DACA and Work Authorization (EAD) document. If the expiration date is close, you must act fast to file a DACA renewal in time. You may apply for a DACA renewal approximately 120 days (or 4 months) before the date your current DACA and employment authorization document (EAD) expires. However, you may not apply earlier than 150 days or 5 months before the expiration date of your DACA and EAD. You can find the expiration by either looking at the I-797 Notice of Action under “Notice Type” or looking at your employment authorization (EAD) document under “Card Expires”. Therefore, it is highly encouraged to apply 120 days before the expiration of your DACA. If you are close to the 120 day mark, contact our office as soon as possible for quick assistance. If you never applied for DACA, it is not too late. You can apply for the first time using the new forms as well. Please beware of “notarios” or other non-lawyer “immigration consultants.” Only talk to an immigration lawyer. Do not file anything with the government without talking to an immigration lawyer.
